Pain Caves
Indoor cycling and training has exploded over the last few years. Accelerated by Covid, the adrenaline high of giving every last drop of energy in the (relative) comfort of your own home has gripped cycling enthusiasts around the world!
As a big cycling fan myself, the explosion of online, indoor, cycling training is something I've really enjoyed during 2020. With advances in Smart Trainers (as apposed to the old school turbo trainer) it has become really easy to obsess over your performance numbers - such as FTP, your functional threshold power, the maximum average power you can perform at for long periods of time - wearing them like a badge of honour or striving to make them better. Thus, creating incredibly, addictive, heavy workouts.
Companies like Peloton and Zwift have exploded in popularity around the world of late. And what better way to combine all these factors and interests than to document these training sessions. So, during eased periods of lockdown during Covid, visiting riders I’ve tracked down via social media and word of mouth, I embarked on journey to document people’s at home “pain caves”. WIP.
