Richard Maciver (Mac-ee-ver):

Born in the Highlands of Scotland I moved to London in the summer of 2012 after mastering in Visual Communication at Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen.

I began picking up my first paid gigs whilst studying at uni ranging from filming and editing educational and instructional videos, to driving the length and breadth of the Europe shooting BMX riders.

After the move to London I began assisting some of the industries leading names, travelling the world and being on-set at the highest level. In 2017 I set out on my own, combining my passion for BMX and sport, I soon found myself shooting Premier League footballers and athletes for brands including Adidas, Nike, Speedo and Hypebeast.

In July 2022 my partner and I packed our bags and decided to live “Digital Slowmad” style. Living, months at a time, in Barcelona, Cape Town, Zimbabwe, Mauritius and Madrid - returning to the UK April 2023.

In my commissions I’m proud to include some great brands including Speedo, Nike, Mars Wrigley, Gymshark, Puma, Adidas and Reebok and some fantastic publications including Cyclist, Shortlist, Hypebeast and Soccerbible.

A passion for sports, combined with a drive to beautifully light the talent in their most authentic moments is what takes priority in my work. Whether that’s commercial shoots in studio & on location or reportage with an editorial eye.
